Retrospective: Isabelle Favez

Isabelle Favez, a Bern-born director, screenwriter, animator, cinematographer, character designer and editor, has mastered the A to Z of animation. Often consciously navigating between child and adult perspectives, she combines naivety with unexpected, darker elements. From Bern to Zurich, Valence to Montréal, her internationally acclaimed co-productions for audiences young and old have taken her across the globe. Her films travel with her – and beyond. This retrospective is interwoven with the director’s reflections on animation and the freedom the medium offers her, as well as on inspiration, ambitions, craftsmanship and plans for a feature film.
