Kids Film Competition 2025
Animated films are still mostly equated with cartoons, Pixar and Disney. But animation can be so much more than that.
We are celebrating the power of imagination with this year’s two children’s programmes. At times playful and funny, sometimes thoughtful and touching, the selected short films showcase the almost limitless variety of styles and techniques that animation is capable of using to tell stories.
The films deal with themes that are not only relevant to children, however: overcoming fears, finding ways out of loneliness and friendship in all its facets.
In colourful visual worlds, the boundaries of space and time are transcended, toys are brought to life, and magical worlds are revealed behind picture frames. We observe odd birds that overcome social anxieties at dinner, a tiger and a goat join forces to seek freedom in the zoo, and snails that realise how relative the perception of time is during a race.
